Detroit City Alebrijes Sculptures

An introduction to the making of a series of sculptures featuring alebrijes, which are expressions of Mexican folkart, made out of car parts. I explain a little background behind the artwork, including my personal connection I have to Detroit, the auto industry, and the teachings of my father, at the same time relating to the experiences of other immigrants in Detroit.

How Do You Flash Your Lights?

It explores interconnection between generations and different cultures. There is a common thread that is actually essential in the history of Detroit, which is the auto industry. There is a lifelong journey that also amplifies into a generational journey. My story is related to many other stories, like all those other immigrants who came for the auto industry, and it is continuously developing and connecting people globally.
